Default 2002 volvo s80 bubbles in coolant reservoir at start up

I have bubbles in coolant reservoir at start up.
I loose water and can't figure out where it is going, have to fill reservoir after driving.
"Low coolant stop engine" warning comes on often.
No water in the oil.
Temperature stays at mid point.
Hard starting and now getting misfiring.
New reservoir cap.
New radiator.
Mechanic said he checked the plugs for signs of head gasket leak and found none, going to check for myself.

I feel it is a head gasket with a small leak into the combustion. I can also feel what to me seems like above normal moisture at the tail pipe. My mechanic is not sure it is a head gasket and does not seem to want to open the motor.

Do these symptoms seem head gasket related?
