I don't think your model has a fuel pressure sensor. A failed pressure regulator will allow pressure to bleed off making for a long cold start. Not sure where the pressure regulator is on the I6s but on the I5s its up front ( in some cases under the intake manifold). I'd try a few things. 1) jumper the fuel pump relay to see if the pump engages and starts building pressure 2) find the pressure regulator - try starting. Then pull off the vacuum line. If fuel drips out your pressure regulator has a torn diaphram and needs replacing. 3) if you can, measure current draw to the full pump. Have you pulled off the fuel filter to see if you are getting anything out of the pump? If the cars been sitting for a couple years I'm wondering if the pump pick up is now clogged with tank debris.
I will be replacing the Fuel pump relay; and will try your suggestions.I have a Bosch 69746 Fuel pump on delivery, too....just in case.
Will report back in a few days/week.
Cheers.
