I looked on here a couple times falling in rabbit hole looking for help on my issue. I bought this car in last month and like it, that being said I have had the passenger headlight go out last week..Ok, no big I will fix it..I have yet to fix it and only have more questions..Looking at front of car is the outside set of lights just for looks? they dont turn on at all in any of the lighting positions..The lowbeam light that is out was pulled and tested and is good, but at best will just have the faintest of flickers when you first power up and then is out.. In short any ideas? Are the outer headlights just for looks or I have another issue because they haven't turned on once since I bought this if they are suppose to.

TIA
Michael (Newby to Volvo)

Hmmm - I posted an answer last week, don't know what happend. On my S80 the outside lights are the dims, inside the brights.

Anyway, the plug for the headlights is notorius for failing, most owners with a Volvo for a long time become adept at replacing them. I would certainly inspect them carefully and replace then if they look frail. IPD, Groton, or you friendly neighborhood Volvo dealer will have them. Cheap and fast. Just don't use wire nuts older them and heat shrink tubing.

thank you I will investigate further, the brights must be an issue as well because they don’t come on. I hit the brights it looks to just lift the dim that works a little.

just note, FCP Groton moved to Milford, CT and rebranded to FCP Euro (I think that was in 2010, good to see donf's been using them as long as I have).

LOL - you are so right.
I must say however that I suspect the people at FCP Euro don't mind it as much as, say, the time I called my wife by my ex-girlfriend's name. (That got ugly in a hurry)
