I have a 08 s80 and want to get the bluetooth kit for it. The dealer wants $600 plus tax. I can get the bluetooth unit and wiring harness for $291 on ebay from a (non-local) volvo dealer.

The local dealer wants $130 for the software and to program the unit.

Does anyone know what actually gets programmed? I'm thinking it's a firmware update on the bluetooth device, but that's really just a guess.

 

I have an 07 with bluetooth. It was already installed when I bought CPO last month so not sure about the install. It is tied into the stereo system so perhaps the "progamming" involves the stereo. It is a very comprehensive system. Voice command, call lists, etc. You can save some bucks and buy from a Volvo dealer at www.myswedishparts.com for $211. I'd suggest calling them as well. They have always been very helpful for me with tech suggestions. They also have a link where you can download the pdf install intructions.
