2008 Volvo S80 or Lexus ES350 ?
Hi guys, looking to buy a new car for my mom. Here'sa little background, she's been driving a toyota camry for the last 4 years and very happy with zero problems. Then i got her a new 2008 acura tl, the car couldnt move after just 40 miles, dealer replaced with another new acura tl, and that too died after 30 miles.I asked and got the full refund. Anyway my parents are about ready to kill me after wasting 2 weekends waiting for roadside assistance / going back to the dealer.
I need acar that will not have any problems in the first 3 years (lease).
Lexus obviously is the top choice, but i like the volvo s80 more because it's safer and bigger.
The question is how are volvo reliability? for the 2007/2008 S80? thanks.

Can't speak to the reliability of the newer S80. I think most of the problems of the earlier years have been resolved. In terms of styling and safety I don't think you can go wrong with the S80.
wut a kick in the nuts, people think Volvo when buying for the mom...
IMO, if looking at a nonturbo S80, it is a toss up kinda'. Volvo will be a little more luxurious, while the Lexus will have 6 speed auto tranny.

Finally I have something valuable to input!
The dealer just lent me a 2008 s80 T6 AWD while they were repairining my 2002 T6. What a treat to drive! Very responsive compared to the top of the line vehicle I own (in 2002). I was sorry they fixed my car in only 2 days.
I am sure the Lexus is a fine car as well. Sounds like your mom is stuck between a soft place and a soft place.
The 350 is a lot more money though isn't it? Or am I thinking of the GS?

yeah you are thinking of theGS. LexusES is about the same price as VolvoS80. But ES is in the same category as S60, where as S80 issuppose to compete withLexus LS (a lot more expensive).
So i definitly think volve is a better buy as it's bigger/safer (performance/handling wise i dont think she really cares or know the difference:P ).The only thing is cant have the car breakdown like the acura did after just 30ish miles.. or i am forced to buy a tyota camery for her arggg!
