Default 2009 S80 Overheating

Have a 2009 S80 with 3.2l engine. Overheat light came on yesterday so I pulled over and let car cool down. started back up and drove home with no problems. Today I hooked my OBDII and monitored engine temperature. After running it around at 50 mph for 10 minutes temperature showed 226 degrees Fahrenheit.
went home parked it and the temp dropped to 189 degrees. Also the A/C was running the whole time. My question is what is the normal operating temperature range for this car. Haven't been able to locate it anywhere.

did the car boil over or did you just get a warning light? If not, I'd suspect the temp sensor or thermostat (assuming you have normal coolant level) best to replace both. If your temp sensor is off, so will the OBD2 reader. Could be the water pump but then I'd expect the temp to climb really quickly.

Water didn't come to a boil. After further checking I noticed that my Radiator fans don't always come on when the a/c is on, it seems to be intermittent. I checked the fans by applying direct power to them for thirty minutes and they ran fine. What else could I check ref the fans. Temp only climbs when the fans are not running.

Update on the overheating issue. After a lot of checking and by pure luck, I found that the big fan was causing both fans to short out when power was applied. If i disconnect the big fan then the other fan works fine and the car stays cool. I will be ordering a new fan and hopefully this will fix the problem once and for all. Hopefully this helps someone who has the same issue.
