I have a 2010 Volvo S80 3.2. The cooling fan is acting really strange and sometimes the car starts to overheat. I know that the fan module can be the issue but I'm not sure. Using VIDA I began watching the ECU parameters for Engine Cooling Fan and Coolant Temperature. The commanded fan speed is 7% only and I watch the coolant temp rise to 119 C. I then went to ECU activations and activated the cooling fan at 100%. Looking back at the parameters, the fan is now showing 96% and the temperature drops back to 95 C. I don't understand why the ECU is allowing the temp to rise without turning up the fan. I proved that the ECU can turn up the fan when I activated it. Any ideas?
