On the USA Volvo website, S80 Features and Options (Safety) lists Active High Beam and describes it as shading out only as much of the beam as necessary (if both Active Dual Xenon Headlights and Technology package are purchased).

But the downloadable S80 owners manual describes AHB as automatically switching to low beams.

Does anyone have a 2014 S80 with both the Active Dual Xenon Headlights and Technology packages? If so, does AHB just switch to low beams, or does it do the much more advanced shading out of only as much of the beam as is needed?

Got the answer from someone in Volvo customer support. The 2014 S80 does NOT have this fancy blocking feature, it simply switches to low beams.

Kind of moot point, they aren't making 2014 S80's any more.
