When i started looking into it and shopping around the dealer told me that there are two different fuel filter's for the 99, they asked for my VIN and said i use the "bigger" type.

most of the web sites only give me one choice so i am reluctant to buy it online in case it does not fit...can anyone confirm this ? dealer said the size of the inlet and outlet is different for the two filters

 

I think they are the same. But they didn't use the shorter filter till I believe the 2002 and 2003 model.

 

ok because vadis does show two part numbers for a fuel filter, but it has no explanation at all on the two, how confident are you on this tech ?

i guess i cant believe that dealer, after all its the same dealer that charged me for the recall and then punches in the wrong amount on my visa lol

damn they ar ejust sooo close to my house i cant make myself drive further

 

It might just be easier to tuck your head under the passenger side and see if you have the longer or shorter filter.
I am pretty sure about it as well.
FCP only shows the long one.

i see, interesting, the one i can get is a bosch, i was told that mahle is OEM, and this one on FCP is a Mann,,,, i dont think there is noticeable difference between them is there ?

 

Bosch is OEM but the mann and mahle both will work fine.

 

Hi, I have an extra Bosch 99 "long" filter.. I bought the wrong one before realizing I have the short, and you can ask tech to verify that its brand new and unused, because it was when I asked him to put it in that we realized I had the wrong size. Anyway, I have some pictures of it if you like, and I really don't mind giving it to you so long as you cover the cost of postage...
