Default AC won't take more charge and squeaky glove box

ok, new here, trying to fix my mother's 2000 S 80's issues. the one getting to me is barely cool AC. So of course I suspect low freon (also have the warmer on the passenger side issue) but after hooking up the charge can, it isn't taking any charge. The compressor is running continuously, does not build enough pressure to shut off. The pressure gauge when running starts about 25 and very slowly builds to 35ish, no more. I've never seen a compressor fail in this way so I am unsure. It's not noisy, it just doesn't cycle. Could the orifice tube have failed and just opened up?

I removed the glove box to try to track down the cricket chirp noise (again) and I can see the large white cog turn in different directions when you change the temp settings for each side, so nothing seems to be binding.

That's the other issue, for years, the glove box has had a cricket like chirp from the upper left corner. I have removed the entire assembly, looked for any part that rubs and lubricated it, sanded it, isolated it with cloth or napkins. Nothing makes it stop except wedging something in to keep the door from shaking even the slightest bit. I am starting to think the entire door needs to be replaced, but that won't happen.

thanks for any help!

i have the same squeaky glove box, but some foam tame about 1/2" thick, it will get squished and keep firm pressure on the box once its locked, that stopped my problem...
