adjust windshield wiper range-'02 S80
I am trying to adjust the windshield wiper range on the "missus" car....(just so you will know that this is a really important repair---not something I am driving-ha!). My problem is that when I get them adjusted so they go up on the windshield (close to the pillar on the driver's side) far enough...when they go down...they don't lie flat against the bottom of the windshield. The ends of them are only about 3" or 4" up, but it is just enough to be a constant source of "irritation" to the "boss" lady who drives this car.
I am thinking there must be an adjustment going onto the wiper motor that can take care of this, but any input you all may have.........would not only be greatly appreciated, but could make the difference in my having a happy wife---or just a wife! HAHA!! Thanks for all your help!!

The wiper motor linkage and the like is a fairly simple component. First there are two joints that connect the wiper arms to the wiper motor linkage, then there is a connecting bar that connects both linkages to the single wiper motor. The wiper motor has a wheel inside of it that tells it when to stop and reverse, so the wheel moves one way, hits a stop point (most are like a electric metal contact stop) and then reverses until it hits the other stop.
I'm not sure the exact system in the Volvo, but I would think it would no different then any other car and there is minimal adjustment outside of adjusting where on the joint the arms sit. It's possible I guess that there could be something causing the arms to reverse/return in the motor too soon (bad connection), but other then that, I don't know of a solution.
