normal. you can have as much as 16-18 volts charging in some vehicles.

Amperage is the real "output" of alternators. I think most early '00s Volvos are around 200 AMP, and the later models hover closer to 300 AMP. I have never put them on a bench and measured them though.

Lifesgoodhere... Thank you for the reply...I for got about our little friend the Amps....I do more with AC Voltage.. I thought the Battery was no good...I replaced it..It was a 60 month battery with 48 months on it..no big deal it was due.. Our 99 S80 We get a "Break Failure stop safely Asap " along with the Orange Triangle in the center..with Brake, oil, check engine. abs ..Tach and speed go out and the Sun roof wont open...and the motor runs like crap and stalls some times it wont start..let it sit it will start.but still run like crap... Volvo says Need to start with Alarm system Module ..they said they had trouble with the diagnose .. They all say possible ABS control unit...But have the bill up Sky high...any help would be great...I can replace any of them with no problems I'm sure..Just have no clue..Note..they all so said may be a short in the siren......The car will run fine for a few days after disconnecting the battery ..I guess from a re boot..? and codes come back...Thanks..Jay

do a hard battery reset. to clear all codes.

Sounds like ABS module, and or ETM (throttle body module) failures.
