Default Brake Booster position Sensor Location?

Keep getting service engine soon message. About 8 mos ago independent volvo shop put grease on the plug end of it and it has stayed off for 8 mos. Called and he said to put more grease on it but I cannot locate it. It was a round cyl about 5 inches long. Where is the location of it THX

When you look at the booster it will be in the upper left corner. It is kind of hard to see with the torque mount brace still in there.

How does it come out? Do you twist it or what?

Just what does this part perform? Will it being bad cause your brakes to pull some times? THX

It has a snap ring in there that you have to get a small screwdriver from the side and move up, then you pull it out. The new one comes with a o-ring, needs lube, and a new ring which you do not need to use if you don't want to. It's a sensor for how hard you push the brakes, no pull conditions.

Make sure before you pull the old one out you press the pedal a few times with the car off. That will use up the stored vacuum in the booster. Then the sensor will come out easier and the o-ring will not get sucked into the booster.
