Can I use the Walmart Supertech ATF on my 2004 Volvo S80?
I am going to change transmission fluid for my 2004 S80 Volvo, the manual page says the transmission fluid is Dexron III G, however, my friend told me that Walmart supertech ATF is a good replacement, I am not sure if I can use it. according to spec, it is a replacement for Dexron III:
Super Tech Multi-Vehicle Low-Viscosity ATF is specially formulated with a unique combination of conventional synthetic base stocks and an advanced additive technology to ensure peak performance of almost any automatic transmission. The benefits of using Super Tech Multi-Vehicle LV ATF are providing protection against wear and transmission shudder, resistance to thickening due to high temperatures and maintains frictional stability to maintain smooth consistent shift performance. Always consult owner's manual to ensure you are utilizing the correct transmission fluid for your vehicle.
also i don't want to make flushing, can dexron III mix with dexron VI?
anybody has advice? thank you.

Considering your transmission fluid is going to be good for another 50,000 to 100,000 miles, I'm not sure I'd go with the cheapest available fluid. You'd have to research on what's the exact difference between Dex III and Dex VI (bobistheoilguy.com may have some insights). I read somewhere that Dex VI has stronger cold weather specifications, but my coaching would be to go with a premium synthetic product or stick to the exact spec if unsure. I am also planning on doing a drain/fill on my 2000 S40 - which also says to use Mercon/Dex III and was looking into using Redline D4 which is a full synthetic Dex III. I also noted Pentosin ATF 1 states to meet Dex III, JWS 3309, Dex VI and a few others so it seems there's some implied backward compatibility. I don't see a problem with mixing a new product with the older fluid. Keep in mind you will want to do a couple of drain/fills separated by about 50-100 miles of driving. The transmission should hold on the order of 8 quarts of fluid and each drain may drop 4-5 quarts.
