Default Cel!

Ok, after the exhaustive cleaning of the PCV and the throttle body (actually the cleaning was the easy part) I got the dreaded CEL.

Code is P0455. Leak in emissions?

I had it cleared. Could it be related to my my fab of the plastic pipe under my PCV thread?

Related to the fuel injector rail cover I had trouble with? (I saw on an earlier thread about relating to gas?)

I noticed when it was cleared, the car ran much better. When it was on, the turbo did not seem to kick in. Maybe the car goes into safe mode like Windows?

Let me know, and thanks for your help.

That is a code for the evaperative system for the fuel tank.
On the cooling fan is a valve one hose goes to the motor and the other ends up going to the fuel tank check the hoses.

Where exactly is the hose located on the cooling fan?

I am assuming you are talking about the cooling fan located in front of the radiator?

I did get in there and add some small clamps to the hoses I pulled off when taking the manifold off so we will see if that helps.

There is a valve that mounts to the cooling fan on the drivers side. I wish I had a pic to show you exactly.

Well, the CEL has come back on but when you refer to the valve, its on the drivers side of the cooling fan? Or a cooling fan on drivers side separate from the one at the front?

I have noticed my gas mileage is poor (15mpg) could that be related or is it something separate. (I am worried I am leaking gas from the fuel rail as I had trouble getting it on but dont smell gas)

Please advise, thanks.

On the radiator cooling fan the valve is mounted on the drivers side of the fan.

Tech-

Is the valve the top arrow or the bottom arrow? On the bottom one, there is a hose that comes out and extends down under the engine so maybe thats the one? Thanks in advance.

Would this be causing my poor gas mileage? I used to get around 19 mpg but not its like 16.6. Any idea?

Well, I took apart the fuel rail again and I had an injector that was loose. I tightened everything and now I have the normal 20 mpg again. So, that is good. I cleared the CEL so maybe that was related. I remember getting a weird check your gascap message prior to the CEL and before I fixed the injector. Lets hope it was related <crosses fingers>

Tech et al-

Ok, got the CEL light once more. Now, I did get the check gas cap warning again and then the CEL came on. So, I believe it might be related to the gas cap. I checked my gas cap but it looked fine. There are some small aging cracks around the gasket so maybe that could be it?

Also, I have been reading the purge canister valve could be bad. I believe my hoses are ok but the one running to the top of the intake mainfold is very slightly kinked? Could that be it?

I am going to try the gascap today. Keep you posted.

Got new gascap and got the CEL again.

I have ordered a new purge valve and will be putting it in next week when it arrives.
I will follow up then.
