This is my first time posting here, just looking for some advice. The CEL in my 99 keeps coming on for the cooling fan. Removed and tested the fan, no good. Replaced it with a good used one, then the fan ran until the car died? Replaced that with another good used one and it didn't come on at all. The mechanic says that the computer (ECM, CEM, whatever) isn't kicking the fan on correctly. He says that it may need reprogramming, if not a completely new ECM from the dealer. Mechanic also said someone may have changed the computers from a junkyard car and never programmed it. Do you guys think the dealer is really the only option? Are there any relays I should be checking?
