Default S80 starting

So today I went to start my S80 t6 (1999) and it took a little longer to start (5-6 seconds) than normal(3 Seconds). But the temperature in Colorado is dropping it was 49 when I started. Does it have to do with the outside temp??... Oh and I've never had this problem..... Bought the car in May of 2011....

Have you checked the battery charge/crank amps lately?

This sounds like a wait and see situation. It could be a battery problem. Have you noticed the car turning over slower? Or it could be that your spark plugs aren't in good shape how old are they? The owner’s manual for my non-turbo 2.9 says not to depress the gas pedal when starting unless it is extremely cold. 49 degrees would not require depressing the pedal so if you happen to be pressing the pedal it could cause the prolonged starting. The higher elevation in Colorado could affect the colder start also, but over all I would just observe it for the next few weeks.

I think it's time to replace the battery. The current battery was installed in February of 2001. The other day the car did not start, because, if I were to drive at night and turn it off, the PRND+MAN- lights don't turn off and a few hours later, it didn't start..... Oh, when I took a look at my battery, Is the ventilation tube important for the next battery???...

Definitely time for a new battery and make sure the ventilation is re-attached properly. Hydrogen explosions =
