Default CPS Troubles

Hi everyone. I have a 99 S80. I had a transmision dropped in the car. When the guy did it he broke the CPS unit. He put a new one in but it rubs so he puta small shim in to lift the CPS. Now the car cranks for a long time before start. Sometimes it feels as though it is not going to start. Do i have to reset the CPS. What can i do to remedy this. Is it the wrong CPS or is it Missing the propper spacer? Thanks for any info. The mechanic is out of the picture and my wife needs th4e car for school. thanks Ron

The part is on the side of the engine has one small 10mil bolt on it and is in front of the abs unit. the mechanic who replaced it said it was a cam position sensor but now im not sure how can i tell the difference? And thank you Tech for the quick response.

The Cam sensor is on the back of the head. The crank sensor goes into the top of the transmission area and reads the flywheel.
But I am thinking crank sensor and if it is hitting something then maybe it is hitting the flywheel. If so then it is the wrong one.
