Default Cupholder problem

Not exactly life-threatening but I have an 02 S80 2.9 and the main cupholder lid is locked shut with the navigation remote inside. The button does nothing to release it and I am trying to avoid destroying it if at all possible. Anyone have any thoughts?

The remote is probably what is causing the stuck door. My phone does this to me sometimes when I put it in there. I have gotten it to move by driving and ubruptly slamming the brakes or gas while pushing the button to open the cupholder.

Sometimes the button assembly breaks.
What you need to do is grab the entire button assembly and slide it out.
Then you will be able to use a screw driver to open the door by pushing the latch release.

Then you might be able to fix the button assembly. Sometimes where the rod goes against the bottom of the button assembly one tab will break. Use a stripped garbage bag tie and tie it up and it should work fine.

Thanks, it was the remote blocking the door. Everything's cool.
