Double-Din aftermarket

Double-Din aftermarket
Considering buying an S80. One of my desired features is that the stock head unit space will fit a double-din aftermarket unit (specifically for a navigation/satellite radio)...but the only 'kits' I see are for single-din units. Is the stock head unit a standard double-din size and, if so, is there an installation trim for a double-din install or will I be forced to modify a single-din kit? Thanks in advance.

RE: Double-Din aftermarket
Volvos make it considerably difficult to put aftermarket cd/dvd/nav players in. I'm not exactly sure what the harnesses are behind the cd player, in that I don't think it falls within the single/double din category. There are some guys on the forum here that may be able to more definatively answer your question, but another option for you would be to talk with some of your local car audio shops around town. They may be able to give you some insight as to what their installs on Volvo's have been like.

RE: Double-Din aftermarket
Thanks for the info. I've seen the single-din kit, but it looks as though converting it to a double-din would be difficult since it has no indentations around the lower pocket in order to keep a clean cut...at least without sanding and refinishing the piece. I have seen a double-din piece for the Volvo, but it looks like it was purchased at a Volvo dealer in the UK. Anyone know if it is available in the US? The Volvo dealers say this thing doesn't exist, but I've seen photos of it.
