S80 T-6 1999

This morning when I stop at the intersection my car vent in to this strange mode.
I could not get any acceleration. I puled over and re-started and got normal RPM and acceleration.
When I slowed down again , same thing happen.

Message is Engine System service urgent.

Any thoughts ?

 

You need to have teh codes pulled it could be 100 different things.

 

Thanks. I have booked diagnosticsfor Friday.
Another thing is that for past few weeks when in Parking, my RPM was going up and down constantly. Along with that my interior and outside light were playing along with RPM.
Few people are suggesting thet my alternator is gone. Others, that is somewhat connected withto timing beltwitch I was planning to replace next week.
I wonder if all this is somehow connected ?

Could be plus the throttle body could be dirty or going bad.

That is what mechanic at Volvo shop is suggesting.
Friend of mine who is mech. at GM dealership is saying that in last few days lot of 6 cyl. cars are coming in for same reason.
By the way, it has been extremly cold week in Alberta. Daily tempreture was on average -30c.

 

My mechanic said that he pulled out 24 differnet codes and that 80% of them are due to foulty Trottle Assembly.
There was recall on trottle assembly quite a few years back, but it looks like previous owner never took it to be fixed.
Mech. also said that it should be still covered under warranty couse of that recall.

$90.00 well spent.
