Faulty Brake Pedal Sensor
1999 S80 T6 - 85K miles.
'Engine System Service Required' message came on. The dealer pulled the code (for $120): ECM 9400 and said that the brake pedal sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced for $215 parts+labor.
Guys, can you please advice on this. How hard is it to replace the brake pedal sensor myself? I did not find any difference in breaking lately. Can I first try cleaning the sensor? Coz if I do, how can I be sure that the sensor is good after the cleaning since I didn't find any difference in the breaking?
Thanks.

ORIGINAL: tech
It would be best to just replace it.
It is a sealed sensor mounted in the front of the brake booster.

Thanks, Tech.
It will take about 5 minutes to replace.
Like I said above make sure you pump the brakes till they get hard.
Because if not when you pull the sensor the vaccum will suck the o-ring in.

The part # is 9441116 and the dealer part price is $97.00. One last question, is it OK if I use an aftermarket sensor or should I stick withan originalvolvo sensor?
Thanks.
Thanks.
