Does anyone know if a software download would be needed when replacing a driver's seat with a new one of the same year?

Does anyone know if you can use a seat from a different year with or without a software download?
I've noticed VADIS lists parts for seats up to 2004 so I'm wondering if an '04 seat would work in my 2000 . I would think if that was possible it would most likely need a download. Does anyone know for sure?

 

You can swap your seat module from your old seat to the new one and should be good from there.

I just swapped the passenger seat from my 2001 V70t5 with one from a 2004 XC70. the seat works fine but the SRS air bag warning light is now on. I did switch the small black module from the seats but this did not fix the problem. Any ideas anyone?

my guess would be that the airbag in the seat is different, inflation pressure, time and speed might be different, and thus the computer is seeing this change
