Default Gas splashes out fill tube when pumping gas

2001 S80 T6, 180k miles. Been running well. Last 4 gas fill ups, I start filling the tank then 5-10 secs later the hose trips (in CA they have evap recovery covers over the gas fill tube), and gas splashes back out the gas fill tube. This is consistant even when I change the angle of the hose. It will only work if I go really SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW.

So 15 gallons may take 15 minutes. What a PAIN!. I called the local Volvo dlrship and the service writer said it sounded like a blocked evap line. Where the heck is this line and how does it usually get plugged up?

I am reasonable mechanically inclined with a tool box full of tools. Is this a job I might be able to do? The dealer wanted > $200 for a job that sounds pretty simple.

Can anyone tell me WHERE this hose is and HOW to unblock it?

Or if you think the problem is NOT the EVAP hose, I'd like to hear what your thoughts are.

I thought I saw a dwg on one of the posting of the evap system for this car...does anyone have that dwg?

Thanks y'all.

Bill

Has the fuel pump been replaced lately?

The evap hose should be like a vent hose on the fill tube under the car.

Or the Evap system starts under the hood. There is a valve on the cooling fan under the hood with 2 hoses going to it and an electrical connector.
