Getting ready to buy a 2000 s80 T6...
DH and I are looking at buying the above car. This is the first time we have ever bought a car from a private seller and are a little nervous. We are getting a good deal. There are 2 things that are making me nervous. They are giving us a weak warranty
1: The check engine light is on, they told us what it is. It is o2 sensor. They took off enough money to get that fixed.
2: The 2nd time DH got in it, they had it started and going for like 30 sec. and it died. The guy had to put it into Neutral and re-start it.
3: There is a couple of re-calls. One for a fan, a master cylinder and speed control.
What do you guys think? It's 2000 w/94,000.

I'd dont think there is a recall for the master cylinder or the speed sensor, does car fax say that?, but definately a recallfor the fan. THere are recalls for the Fuel pump and ETM, well theyy extended the warranty for those up to 10 years 200,000 miles for the ETM and 10/150,000 miles for the fuel pump.
Also Volvo's like to have their timing belts changed at 105k, but alot of people do them early, since they tend to break earlier or they look worn/pitted. So that is a 1400$ service via Volvo, and when they replace the timing belt my local volvo delearship requires you change the Water pump also which is why its so expensive.
I'd also make sure the 90k 600$ volvo tune up was done for it too. My 01 s80 T6 requred me to do brakes and rotors around that mileage too so I'd make sure those are in good shape because Volvo charges a bunch load for that ... like 1000$ for all brakes and rotors.
