After reading through threads in this forum, I learned that my car is probably having ETM problem. Thanks to one of the posting for pointing out the CA law extension on emission system warranty. I called and the service rep. confirmed that 7 years/70K on emission system. I'm taking my car in this Mon to have it checked. If it's the ETM, then cleaning or replacement should be free of charge.

When I first saw the car commercial on TV, I said that's my car... yup.. 6 months later my old car died.. and I bought a 2000 s80 2.9; out the door for $37,900. It only has 38K mostly weekend driving. Bottom line, I like the look and feel of it. Although at time, I think it's a little weak.. guess T6 would had been a better choice. Too bad it has all these problems posted on here.

To the point, I like to keep the car for a very long time. Thanks to members, especially to TECH, I will check back here for more info as I will definitely needed.

Took my car to the dealer..

The guy said I would be charged $185 for diagnostic. If it's a faulty ETM, then replacement is free. But if it needs cleaning, then there will be a charge. I figure, since there's no service light of any kind, I'm sure they will charge me. So I didn't go through with the service. Although, cleaning would help prevent failure, but I guess that's there protocol.

I'll clean it myself.
