Default hard to brake

On a cold start up, the first time I brake is very difficult. I have to put a lot of pressure on the pedal to stop it and its kind of scary sometimes. Also, it doesnt do this every time, but pretty often. The RPM's dont seem to jump up too much either. Any clues what this could be?

Where should I listen for it? If it was a vacuum leak, wouldnt it do it all the time?

Also, this isnt the only strange problem I have when I start the car on a cold start. It also starts up really rough and takes a second for it to catch on. And when I start driving it, it seems like the car doesnt recognize when I hit the pedal, but then all the sudden it will kick in and take off. And when and accelerating at a constant speed (not changing how hard im pushing the pedal) it will take off really rough...kinda like it will accelerate, then stop, accelerate, stop.

Have you had the ETM Recall software upgrade done yet?

Yes, I have had the upgrades for the ETM. I was having problems 5-6 months ago, and they did the first upgrade. Then about a month ago I was having really bad problems with it and they did the second upgrade. The second upgrade seemed to help for a little bit, but now the problems are getting worse. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was an $800 repair (about $700 was for labor) because i had a clogged oil trap...which i didnt bother getting fixed because I didnt really believe them. They said if that didnt work it may be something else, then the warrenty issue. I personally think they just didnt want to replace it.

Very possible.
But that might be causing the Brake problem as well.

Is the Vent box something maybe you can do?

I'm not too familiar with cars, so probably not. If its not too difficult I'm sure I could give it a try.

You would have to remove the intake manifold to get to it.
