Default Help 99 S80 black smoke from the exhaust

I have a 99 volvo S80 2.9I bough it 3 months from now with 110,000 miles on it.First the transmision failed it was blank i have to repair my transmision on a transmision specialist its cost me $1,200, the cars runs great until it start misfiring and black smoke coming from the exhaust and the motor failing badly put new 2 coils and a brand new mass flow sensor and did it it work but it only lasted 1 week and it start doing the same thing motor failing and black smoke heavily black smoke from the exhaust, i have to put tree set of spark plugs because of sending to much gas to the engine it damages the spark. I took it to a volvo dealer had no other option, I took it there on jan,29,2007 but they told me they still checking because had no hope findin the problem is been to weeks since i took there and they told the same thing every time that they can't find the problem they show me the codes the check engine light cause and its a lot of things misfire cylinder on 3 cylinders they put new coils but the problems persists, O2 sensors the ones in the engine they I don't think that causes that the car is sending to much gas to the engine and black smoke from the exhaust,. I dont know what to do do you think it will cost me a lot please any suggestions

I was thinking maybe a Burn't valve.
Which would cost about $3000.00 U.S. dollars maybe a little more.

We have seen it alot on the 960 and S70's

But I wouldn't rule out the S80 from having one as well.

I see you have 4 volvos. Isn't the s80 the dumbest things they ever came up with? Man, I feel your pain.

Selling it only to make someone else pay the price. Volvo should be the one paying the price. I hope they are thinking really hard right now why their cars are stacking up at the lots.

No man they have not call me no nothing, I did go but that was last week on monday and they told me that mechanic that was taking the car didn't go to work. that day they told me that the car keeps misfiring due to coils but no luck they say they will be replacing all of the wires to the coils to see if that the problem and they also told me that they stabilize the black smoke, and that a little white smoke was coming from the exhaust didn't understand that part why? But I'm going tommorow to check on the car and will let you know what they told me. Thanks tech

Hey Tech I go to volvo today and they told me they have to put a new engine wich they estimate me $7,500 for that I'm not paying for that thay told me that the problem was a mechanical problem not an electrical problem and that I have to put new engine. I'm going to volvo specialist that has volvo computer and well trained for the s80's and do the job do you ahve any idea what could it be if its not a electrical problem.????????????

I still kind of have a hunch it might be a burnt valve.
Did they ever do a compression test?

But even if they were below normal but not more that 20% from each other that is fine.
Unless it was like 90 PSI.

Buy a used engine with fairly low miles if you can.

Im not really sure if the oikl is coming from the rings it could also be coming from the Valve seals.
