Default Help with check engine light

2002 S80 2.9
140,000 miles

I have the check engine light it was one about 2 weeks ago for the weekend and then went off and turned back on again this past friday.

I decided to go to Autozone today during lunch and have it scanned.
The autozone employee came outside and scanned the car and said that it passed and had no codes showing. I was excited so i drove off and then i noticed that the check engine light is still on.

What happened? Did the tech do it wrong? Is it some weird anomaly?

Im considering going to another place this afternoon and get a second opinion.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Same thing was just happening to me...Hooked it up to diagnostics...nothing...did the same thing and next time it was a emissions code. What it turned out to be was that the small rubber gasket surrounding the gas cap had these little spider web cracks underneath. not visible at first glance; however, with a flash light you could easily see them. Bought a generic gas cap and took the "o" ring off...Not a single problem since. Give it a look.

same thing and it scanned evap. tightened up the gas cap, reset the check engine light, and it fixed it.
