Hey everyone. Have a questuin for you!
Here is the story. I found a 2000 S80 on craiglist. I went to look at it and it was leaking power steering fluid. I drove it and decided to take the chance and buy it (Was $2900) On the way home the battery light comes on and the car starts surging (Alternator $250) Anyway the leak ended up being a steering rack (Bout $900) My question is, at this point should I even keep this car? Is it going to be a constant headache? You guys have S80's So I figured you would be the best people to ask!
Thanks!
PS Needs tires also

If you're going to have someone else do the work, you may just want to get rid of the car. Things will fail and need replacing as with my car, but by doing it myself I save about half the cost that you may pay to have someone else do it. Possible items to fail will be multiply suspension parts, the ETM, PVC cleaning, ABS module, etc.
Do you know if the timing belt has been replaced, how about a rebuild of the transmission yet? These are another two common weak points.
Sounds like you jumped the gun on buying this car without fully researching it.

Its true ,I did jump the gun on buying this car. I know that the timing belt and pulleys have been changed. I am not sure about the transmission, but it seems to function correctly and has awfully clean fluid.
