so i want to put an HID kit in my 2000 s80, non turbo.
ive heard of HIDs being too hot and melting the housing that they are in, and i don't want that to happen. does anyone have any advice on what to do or where to buy them?

 

I've just installed 5000k with 55 watts with no problems. I got them from ddrtuning.com. Volvo is not listed, but I ordered them based on suggestions. The brightness is fantastic, no warning lights on dash, and I don't see anything melting
I did not get the additional adapter to cancel the warning messages as the 55w takes care of that problem. Good luck.

 

What you will find is very mixed results in installing HIDs in Volvos. Some people have no problems at all, others have small issues that can be resolved fairly easily, others, not matter how much is done, they won't work. Unfortuantely there is no way to determine how your vehicle will react. There is no guarantee a 55W kit will work direct, with a BOW canceller or harness, it all depends on the vehicle.

I personally used SharpHid.com, John is a very valuable resource and is great to work with. Although I was never able to get my HIDs to work, he spent a lot of time and effort to try different combinations to get the system to work.

 

537- what year is your s80 and do yall have any other suggestions on other mods? im really in the mood to do some work
