Idle Noise s80 v8
"Hello, i have a 2007 volvo s80 V8 with approx 99,000 miles. Each time i start the car in the morning approx 34 degrees Fahrenheit I get a rattling whining noise coming from the pulley side of the motor. This lasts approx. 30 seconds or until the motor idles down. This doesn't happen on any other startups during the day, only when parked overnight. I have a video and i was wondering if anyone had an idea of what the hell this noise is.

2007 Volvo s80
Thank you for the reply, i will look at the engine diagram and locate the power steering pump. I read that the power steering pumps were issues in vehicles prior to the 2007, but that seems like it could be a likely candidate. Since i bought the vehicle from a dealership less that 2 weeks ago i will have them take a look at the vehicle. On a off note i noticed the vehicle shifts hard under low pedal pressure and slower while under full load than other vehicles i have owned. Is this common to volvos? The slow hard shifts could be a possible problem with the transmission or a motor mount located on the passenger side. Have you had any issues with your s80 motor mounts? Other than that the s80's performance is appealing and composed for a daily driver.
