Default Immobilizer message on 2002 S80

Just bought a used 02 S80. 86,000 looks like it was well taken care of. However, went to start it and at first absolutely nothing, no clicking, no nothing. 1 minute later it turned over with ease but would'nt start. Finally next try it started like normal and did so for a few days. I put a new battery in for kicks. Again a few days later she turned over with ease but not firing. Now I got a message on the screen saying immobilizer. I have read some similar problems here. Should I take it to a dealer or is there something I can do myself. There is no jumping of the tachometer or anything like that. just occasionally wont start until the 3rd or 4th time. I only have 1 key is there something that can be reprogrammed? In addition from the carfax report in 04 the computer had been reprogrammed and the ignition lock cylinder was replaced. Just to put it out there...

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi...my car, same make, same year, a t6 is giving exactly the same problem. Any advise would be appreciated please. My technicians are advising i change the whole central electronic module (brain box) and complete steering column. Is this the only option available ?
Thanks
