And apparently it will surge (accelerate when foot is not on the gas) in cold weather.

Well, was a little late getting around to the manifold today. I broke something in my air intake box when trying to replace the hood release cable. (@#%!) I only took the upper off so far. The gasket between the upper and lower manifold was drenched in oil and the interior is caked with gunk. About to start cleaning it. A bit timid now about removing the fuel rail. Any tips?

It is a wonder my engine has not suffered some form of catastrophic failure. I removed the oil trap today. All of the inlets to the trap (and the crankcase) were gummed up. The lower most tube from the oil trap itself was completely blocked with some milky/cream colored goo. Any clue as to what that might be? I've cleaned the crank case entrance as best I could and replaced the oil trap with a new one as well as with new hoses. Waiting for a new air box after I broke the small plastic valve that is designed to shut off air flow to the exhaust headers.

Hmm... many possibilities... ranging from head gasket to oil cooler to...

How's the antifreeze look?

How about the oil?

I am afraid it might be the head gasket; however, the oil looks fine everywhere else. Coolant levels are steady. There was a leak from the expansion tank but I fixed it. Oil on the dipstick is honey colored and there was no sign of moisture in the oil the last time I changed it (about 600 miles). There is no milky residue on the oil filler cap either which makes me hopeful it isn' the head gasket. I'm hoping it was just localized moisture getting into the PCV system. Is there anything else I should look for?

I have not. Truth be told I still haven't put the manifold back on yet. I didn't know if there was anything else to look at before putting it all back together. Waiting for new air box after I broke that freaking plastic valve piece.

I'd do that... will tell you if you have a bigger issue or not... but that's just me.
