Looking at this S80. Pls comment.
One of our local dealerships:

Seems like a very good price. I need to run by and take a look, but before I get there to look, I was wondering what to check for on an older model T6.
Thanks!
EDIT: Also these two:
2004 S80
http://vehicleville.com/vehicles/sho...=Search&page=1
2000 S80 T6

I would tend to trust the Vehicleville on over this local dealer as the Vehicleville place specializes in Volvos...

Welcome to the forum.
I think the 2000 & 2001 models had some transmission problems. They were worked out by the 2004 model year. Do a search on the S80 forum for more information.

I actually hear that most of the other problems (not trans) were sorted out by the 02 model of the vehicle...
But I agree entirely, avoid that GM trans if possible.. Regardless of reliability it has some of the worst shift logic I have ever experienced...

No, the S60 was never equipped with the T6, so it doesn't have the notorious transmission issues. I'd still be cautious shooting for a 2002 or earlier Volvo just because the do have some other chronic issues with electronics.
Also, the S60 never had a crap GM trans.. Came with Aisin-Warner which seems to be much more reliable as long as you use the correct fluid..
To me the S60 is just an S80 with a smaller backseat (and better looking rear end)..

Regarding how clean the engine is, nothing like spraying down an engine then applying tire shine to the plastic.
While I have purchased Volvos from other outlets, volvo Certified pre-owned is the way to go, and you can find older models in the program, the cost adds approximately $1,200, to the price of the car, but the benefits far outway the cost. we recently purchased an 09 S80 30K, CPO car, over an 09 with 10K non-CPO car. Good luck
I just bought a S80 with the AWD and 2.5 turbo and it seems to have more than enough power for most chores. It is not as quick or smooth as my previous Audi Allroad 2.7 tt but much more economical fuel wise by far.
