After seeing Tech's wonderful help with someone else, I thought I would give it a try:

My volvo has this light coming on. Now, the dealer told me I have a leak in the turbo cooling lines (specifically the return lines).

The first time this happened, my oil levels were low. So I put a bottle of oil (10/30) in the car. And the light went away for a week.

Now, the light comes back within a day of new oil being placed in the car.

Finally, the oil level is at the max and the light is still coming on.

Any suggestions?

Edit: O.K. after looking at the dealer diagnostics report, the "TURBO SEAL" is leaking. How safe is it to drive the car with this condition? And what else should be changed while the mechanic is "in there?"

 

You also have another problem besides the turbo return line leaking.The turbo return line is not under much pressure it is a drain back to the oil pan.
If the light is staying on there is either a bad sensor or low oil pressure.
You need to have the dealer check the oil pressure.
At first the oil light was coming on to tell you you were low on oil.
Now it is on for another reason.

It might be the oil pan o-rings thats why you should have the oil pressure checked.

 

Well, you're right. Spoke to a Volvo technician and he recommended the following:

Have the turbo seal replaced.

At the same time, it would be good to have the oil pan rings replaced and to have the engine flushed.

He mentioned that they do them (engine flushes) every day and that he could GUARANTEE that since my car had over 75K, there was sludge in the engine.

You would think there WOULD be some recourse to this...Anyway, I'm going to check if my warranty covers this.

 

If you can prove you had all the services done at the proper time you might be able to get the warranty to cover it.

 

Any idea what it would cost to flash the engine?
