Mirror change remote issue
Hiya guys.
I bought myself a S80 2001 LimitedEdition with a few issues, one of them beeing a broken rearview mirror(aoutodimming glass was broken).
A internal rearview mirror was sent with the car so I changed it,but after the fob won't work.
Any idea what to do. I'm thinking that the antenna might be in the mirror bute there should be a box somewhere else in the car.
Is it possible to to reprogram something or should i try to move the electronics from the original mirror to the new mirror?
Best regards Patrik

The upper electronic module (UEM) is a circuit board (controlling the remote functions) bonded to the back of the mirror glass. Take the old mirror apart and use a wall paper knife to carefully cut the UEM off the back of the mirror glass. Take the old mirror apart first so you can figure out how to get it apart without breaking anything. Do the same thing with the replacement mirror and bond the old circuit board to the new mirror. You will need to solder 2 leads if the replacement is self dimming.
You can't use Volvo to "reprogram" the UEM. A company such as xemodex might be able to clone your old UEM to the new/used one - but swapping will be easier than sending 2 mirrors to xemodex in Canada.
