Default mysterious lack of acceleration

Has this happened to anyone or know what may be my problem before I take it into some Import Auto place thats gonna charge me out the ***...

no engine problems... just got stardard maintence done at the end of the summer... a diagnostic and everything... everything turned out great...

until the other night just leaving a restaurant i go to start my car and accelerate away and i dont go more than 1500rpm or more than 5-10mph. the engine doesnt sound like its over revving or anything its just powering at about where it should if i just wanted to go 5-10mph. but i can floor it and it wont go anywhere.

i turn the car on and off a couple times and it finally comes back and i can get where i need to go. but then it will do it again one of the next couple times i go to use it. a local car place didnt know what to do so they suggested a import place thats gonna be expensive just for a diagnostic.

any ideas before i break the bank!?

thanks sooooo much.
