Unhappy Oil leak from timing belt area. What should I do?

Hi, does anybody have an idea about:

I have a 1999 Volvo S80 T6, and during last oil change I was told that there is a oil leak problem; therefore I had a dye test to figure out from which part it leaks oil and we found that it comes from the timing belt area. My car has 117000 miles now and I bought it when it had 111000 miles about 8 months ago. The previous owner told me that he changed the timing belt, there is no record though. Today they offered me price between $650-$750 to change the timing belt, water pump and seals(seals for additional price), but i don`t want to spend that much. What should I do? And what happens if I don`t change anything and the oil continues to leak? Especially in one-year period.

Thank you.

You should remove the timing cover and have a look. See if the oil is coming from high or low. The cams have seals and the crank has a seal, this is likely the source of the leak. While you're there you can look at the belt and ascertain it's age. If it's newish, but oily, replacing only the belt is an option. A contaminated belt can come apart and ruin your valve train.
This is a very doable task.

I found a leak in our S70 that I thought would make it 6 months, I was wrong. About a week later I blew 2 cam seals out and I lost 2.5 qts of oil in 2 miles (home). Here is the link for that write-up:

Here is a link to my 960 t-belt job. It may be closer to what the S80 has, except for the fact that it's sideways.
