Please Help Me
Good Morning, I am very excited to find this group! In 2009 I purchased a Volvo S80 2007. I bought this car with the understanding of a personal 1 owner vehicle. To my surprise, I recently found out that the registration had changed to commercial lease vehicle after eight days. The car fax stated the vehicle had 61,224 miles, but the dealership assured me this was a typo. They said there is no way a person can change the mileage on the new odometer. I believed them. The vehicle was sold to me with an understanding of 1 owner personal vehicle with 21, 214 miles. Now the engine is leaking oil. I have had the car repaired twice already.I was assured the oil leak was fixed. I am a very trustworthy and kind lady. I always look for good in people and believe them from my heart. However, I feel like I am being cheated, lied to and taken advantage of. Since they mislead me about the ownership of the vehicle then maybe the mileage is 61,224. What can I do?
in what country are you?
on normal ways in the uk you could go to trading standarts with the car and documents from the sales, and may visit before the dealer again - have another chat about the sales and mileage - and tape this conversation.
you may end up with a new car on dealership costs.
they trying to take the mick.
yes you can change the mileage ove a clever computer or replace the tacho unit.
easy done.

If this dealer has committed fraud and you have evidence, you are entitled to a refund plus possible damages. Do some simple searches regarding this type of fraud in your state and you may check with friends with legal backgrounds. You may end up having to rent a lawyer.
Check at the County courthouse or secretary of state where you got your plate and title or State Attorneys office for laws concerning this..
The Carfax is excellent evidence for proof of mileage. The Volvo dealer(not the dealer you're fighting with) should be able to recall the mileage from the car's computer- for a fee.
If you feel you've been cheated, you shouldn't stand for it.

It would be pretty normal for a 5 year old car to have over 60,000 miles on it. When we purchased our S70 GLT, the ODO reported about 82,000 miles but Volvo Cars of North America had a warranty repair done on the car at 121,000 miles 2 years prior to our purchase. I believe the dealer I purchased it from had the cluster swapped out. Not sure if it the computer will show frame mileage or cluster mileage.
You can go to Volvo's website and check recall repair work on the car. It may show recall claims and mileage when repairs were done.
