Hi everyone,

I have a 99 S80 that has developed a strange noise everytime a button is pushed tounlock the door, lock the door and open the door. It happens with all the doors and the sound is similar to that horrible buzz that you hear when someone answers a question wrong on a game show. Sometimes it will make the noise to lock it but it doesn't actually lock.

Any ideas?

Might be a bad relay.

 

Do you know where the relay is located?

 

There is one under the dash.

But also if one of the locks are going bad it might cause the same problem as well.
Or also the door module will do that if going bad.
You might want to have someone pull the codes for the door modules.
Usually only a Volvo specialist can pull them.

 

The sound seems to only be coming from the drivers side door. Does that mean the door module is the most likely cause?

 

I would say yes.
But if you have the codes pulled it will tell you for sure.
Also if it needs to be replaced the Dealer will have to download software to make the new one work.
