Preventative maintenance on turning 200,000
My S80 is still mostly running like a top, however I've got a few performance issues I'd like to address, as well as do what I need to do to keep her humming.
My cruise control has started to slam off, particularly going up steep hills. I've read about the brake position sensor, but the fact that I also have a turn signal that sometimes behaves oddly makes me think I need to check the yoke before I replace the pedal. The signal will blink fine, then freeze on or freeze off or blink rapidly, bumping it seems to fix it. I'd have thought that would be in the relay, but what do I know. The cruise light usually stays on it just won't engage, although now and then it won't turn on. Does it make sense to look at the stick before the pedal sensor?
Also, I'm having a weird bit of seeming hesitation, like an overall sluggishness, especially around 50-70mph and especially especially in the rain, and extra especially when the air is on, moreso than it used to. There's no miss or anything, just like it doesn't want to accelerate, rpm's stay where they are. Eventually it'll kick up and go. I've got a crazy loud ticking injector, I've done some intake cleaning, I'm wondering if maybe I've got clogged or failing injectors? Or is that more likely to be plug wires/coils, with the whole rain thing? I really feel like it's an injector pressure issue since the revs aren't changing, maybe the rain thing is a false positive?
What else would you recommend? I've had the car about 10k miles, prior to that all maintenance was done on schedule. Timing belt looks great, tires are new, struts and stabilizers are new, although I could use an alignment. ABS module has been replaced, trans is solid. I want to be able to rely on this car for long trips, especially because my back can't tolerate my partner's car AT ALL.
TL;DR--cruise control stops working, hesitation at speed, suggest preventative maintenance.
