Had a few qs
1) is there day time running lights ( not the regular night lights that are on even in day time)
2) does the door lock automatically when driving?

1 - Yes, these cars have Day Time Running Lights (DRLs), but unlike many cars with DRLs, Volvo runs all exterior lights in normal mode, meaning the parking and head lights are on. This can be turned on and off at the dealership via a software change in most states/countries where DRLs are not required.

2 - Another function that can be set I believe, although my aftermarket remote starter does this for me (prior to the remote starter, my locks didn't lock when driving).

There are many adjustments that can be made to these cars via software changes at the dealership.

even if i do get the DRLs throu the dealership, i would still have to turn the headlights on manually at night, since the car doesnt has automatic headlight that turns on at night like the Lexus that i have.

All S80s have automatic headlights if the feature is turned on. I never touch the switch on my car as I have the DRLs enabled (it's not a part that needs to be installed, just a software switch that needs to be turned on) and auto headlights enabled. The switch actually doesn't do much of anything.

If I turn the switch to off, the lights still work just as normal with the DRLs and automatic lights coming on automatically and shut off when the car is off. If I turn it to parking lights, only the parking lights come on (headlights will stay off and when I shut the car off, the lights stay on). If I turn the lights on, they will run as DRLs and automatic lights and shut off when the car is off.

These cars are highly computerized, if there is a function, there is probably an adjustment that can be made. Even the heated seats can be calibrated to different temperatures for high and low.

oh ok ..well that sounds right. But it would be nice to have separate DRLs and night lights. Like i have on my Lexus. So much better. Even if i do change it at Volvo dealership they will charge high prices.

There is a difference, the DRLs don't run the interior lights. You can go back and forth between the pros and cons of each system (Volvo v Lexus). Volvo found that there is increased safety in having full DRLs with not just the headlights, while Lexus used the generic DRL concept of just low powered headlamps.

In the end, I don't see the big deal about how Volvo choose to design their system and it really doesn't cause any harm.

As for Volvo dealership, if you truely own a Lexus you already understand the concept of high-end car repairs, Volvo or not.

When the car arms, the first time, the parking lights will flash when the car is in a ready-state condition and can arm itself (ie. trunk closed, doors all closed, etc.).

There is no audible notification and there is no visual notification that the car is unlocked.

What year is your car again? Not all Volvo's are turbo, there have been 4 different engines offered in the 1999 - 2006 Volvo S80s in the US and the configurations are as follows.

1999 - 2001
2.9L - I6 - NA
2.8L - I6 - Twin Turbo

2002 - 2003
2.9L - I6 - NA
2.9L - I6 - Twin Turbo

2004
2.5L - I5 - Turbo
2.9L - I6 - NA
2.9L - I6 - Twin Turbo

2005
2.5L - I5 - Turbo
2.9L - I6 - Twin Turbo

2006
2.5L - I5 - Turbo

You don't have T6, you have a I5 Turbo with a single Turbo and 5 cylinders. The T6 is restricted to just 6 cyclinder twin turbo Volvos.

ok so I THINK i know how to program when you click the lock button will cause the parking lights to blink. Mine wasnt working when i purchased a 2006 S80. So here it goes :

Step 1 : open all doors, trunk and engine compartment
Step 2 : click the lock button on your remote keyless
Step 3 : close all the doors, trunk and engine compartment
and after that u should see the parking lights blink and whenever u press the lock button.
i had this happen twice but only thing is i dont know how to go back . That is, if you do not want the parking lights to stay on
