Okay S80 owners, Im sure you have noticed rattles here and there in you cars. Any fixes for them? I have a 1999 volvo s80, rattles are mostly heard from the glovebox and the sunroof. I tried addressing the sunroof by adjusting the sunshade, but ended up jamming it in the open position. I also almost fixed the glovebox by applying velvet tape and lining the outer edges inside, It helped a little. Anyone have ideas that worked?

 

The metal bar on the sunroof glass often comes loose causing rattling.

 

What metal bar on the sun roof glass? There is no metal bar on my 02. Mine works fine but I do have some clunking in the sun roof when I stop & go. A little rattle as well but cant hear it if I shut the shade.

There is supposed to be a bar in the front and back of the glass. It runs from side to side.
One might have fallen off and be sitting on the top of the sunroof headliner.

 

the glove box rattle was annoying to me as well so i applied foam tape, its sticky on one side, to the inside corners of the glove box , now its silent

and i also hear some kind of rattling in the roof but cant figure it out, it must be what you guys are talking about, but it only happens on some serious potholes
