Pulled the old rotor off and the parking brake shoes are bad. Put the new hub on, no problem. Pulled the other rear wheel and the same thing, the friction material on the shoes separated from the steel shoe. Now to replace the shoes. Special order and they came in at the end of the day, wrong ones! I wonder if I should just do a whole brake job and replace the shoes, rotors and pads too?

I have 176,000 miles and am shooting for 200,000 plus. I had the brakes done all around by a shop and they used some real cheap stuff from Car Quest. I did the fronts about a year ago and now ordered the parts to replace the rears as long as I have it all part, lots of rust and the inside rotors are grooved real bad. Next weekend I'll be putting back together. This Volvo is a piece of cake to work on, no wonder the Volvo shops want to keep it to themselves!

Well I just read your reply but have already sent for a new speed sensor. I metered the sensors, left rear= 15 ohms , right rear= 0 ohms. I only replaced the right rear hub, car is nice and quite now. I will meter the new sensor when it arrives before installing it. I hope it's not the hub, I'll let you know.

I figured it out. I didn't notice when I took the old hub off that the dust shield stayed on the yoke, I put the new hub on and then there was two shields in place, this double shield stopped the speed sensor from working. I pulled the new hub off and then saw the old shield still in place. I hammered it out, cleaned up the rust and the new hub fit in perfect and the speed sensor works again. All is fixed.
