Default Wet passenger floor well

Before beginning my search here, I've narrowed the H2O issue down to mother nature (and the car wash).

Heavy rain tonight in Indy...and I can finally see water dripping from behind the glove box (closed) on or into the passenger foot well.

Windshield never been replaced (original owner) and have not had any major service on it...

So with that...I leave it to the Volvo guru's here...any idea what could be causing this leak?

Thanks in advance...I really do appreciate the help!!

I've got the same issue on my S80, but being in Arizona i have a little bit more forgiveness from mother nature... However, I'm looking at driving up to Portland this Christmas. Need to figure it out soon, just haven't taken the time and effort to track down the leak. Let me know if you come across anything conclusive.

I had water leak into my S80 too, I turns out when I took it to our independent Volvo shop, they said it my weather strip was bubbling away. The weather strip is under the weather drain grill thingy. They took that off, removed the old seal, and put a new seal in place. Total cost was 90$.... Problem was solved.....

"weather drain grill thingy"?? - are you talking about the drain at the base of the windshield with the grill to keep out leaves?

Red face "Fixed" a leak that wasn't the leak

FYI... Tore apart the underside of the dash, removed the blower motor, then tore apart the windshield wiper cowl and intake plenum cover, saw what and where i thought was the leak location and "fixed" it. Reattached the cowling assembly, new rivets, etc. But, I fixed a leak that didn't exist. lol! The leak was still there. In the end i discovered the water was leaking from around the bottom of the windshield seal. It's U-shaped channel that slips over the bottom of the windshield. A bead of silicon in the bottom of the channel fixed the real leak.

Yep had the same issue in my 2001 S80 and the weather stripping around the windshield (passenger side near the bottom of the glass was deteroriated.

Don't laugh but i simply got a can of expanding foam and stuck the nozzle in the cracks and filed up the void with foam---not a leak since.

My windshield was replace but not sure that really caused the problem--just old rubber seals.
