I would like to get roof rack and roof top carrier for my 2003 S80 T6. Anybody could recommend one? I have checked Thule's website but looks like I would have to spend $700-$1000 for a complete setup. I need to go cheaper than that. I do have some sort of mounts built-into the rails that go along the roof.

Anybody? Can't believe nobody has a rack on their S80.

 

Look at this link. The volvo has mounting tabs welded to the roof line inside the rain "gutter" (or whatever the real name is). I purchased a box from Thule and had to turn two of the pre-drilled holes into slots to accomdate the rack bar spacing. Filled in the gaps with silicon, no leaks.

Sorry to resurrect an old link, but I just bought this rack for my son's 2001 S80 and there are no snap off covers over the roof attachment points as indicated in the instruction sheet. Are we supposed to just cut the plastic trim strips in the right place to get access to these spots? Does the strip just pry off with a screwdriver?

We can see that the threaded mounts are located under these strips. Anyone have instructions for doing this in a neat manner in case we remove the rack in the future?
