Default S-80 Timing belt Replacement

Hello All,
Just finished replacing the timing belt and serpentine belt on an S-80 with 140K. Performed replacement per instructions from tech. The car ran for about 1 minute and I shut it down due to some steam from the rear of the engine near the pass side turbo.

Checked everything and restarted, car started and sputtered and stopped, would not restart. I am 15hours later with no work done yet. What should I expect and what might have happened. We did an oil and filter change at the same time. No problems or leaks with that.

What should I do?

I am ready to start from the beginning again. Arrgh!

Thanks,
4volvos

Do you happen to have those instructions from tech? I have not been able to get it to crank at all and was hoping for some light fromthe forum.

geez.. not sure.. everytime ive done a belt its started right up. no not starting or sputtering.. wondering what the steam is from.. did you do water pump as well??? if you shut the car down, line up your cam and crank, remove the old belt, check tensioners and such, install the new, rotate crank once or twice to check alignment marks.. then it should have started up and ran perfectly with no burps, hiccups or steam.. are your sure theres no other problems with the car? have you checked your marks again just to be sure?? the cover is super easy to get off.. thats where id start..

Hello Tech,
I did replace the tensioner and the idler. Could I possibly have damaged the oil pump while changing the belt? Where is the oil pump located on this car?

I will try the entire process from beginning to end again, check and recheck the marks.

I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

oil pump ... no.. the only thing that you can damage if you get the marks off is piston to valve collision... then you will bend a valve. the oil pump would not have been damaged...

The oil pump is on the front of the motor behind the crank timing gear. That aluminum round plate on the front that you see is the oil pump.
