Post s80 a/c system

Hi, All you luvers of the s80. I have an s80 model 2000 that the a/c will stop cooling after a few minutes or some times 45minutes of drive time but still blows air but it starts getting warmer, then I will turn it off for a minute then back on will keep cooling sometimes 20 or 60 minutes then repeats this action again and again. Any tech's out there got an idea? Also, I have never changed the trans fluid has 190k and still gets 22MPG's try that in a GM,FORD>DODGE or Rice Patty sipper. Anyhow I was going to have the fluid sucked out through dipstick tube method and replaced with the same amount or less with fres fluid has anyone had luck doing this method? If not what would be recomended or prefered to service or just keep going as is?

Hey buddy, that is a GM transmission, it probably should have been flushed many times before with DEX III, I am surprised you do not have any problems with it, yet. I certainly do NOT love this model, especially this year, especially T-6's.

Anyways, your problem sounds like a good ol' clutch going bad on the compressor, it probably can be reshimmed, but with that many miles, you may want to look into a new one, you decide with labor and what not and if you or someone else is doing it.

Sorry for being a pessimist and if I jynxed you.

Well, a quick test would be when it starts blowing warm, look at the front of the a/c compressor and see if it is engaged, it wont be spinning. Then, if it is not engaged and the a/c is on, tap it slightly with a screwdriver and see if it comes back on.

Look at it before and after to distinguish on/off. It may be difficult to see from the top.
