Bought a 2003 S80 D5 last year which I absolutely adore.

Am looking to fit roof bars and a box so that we can go skiing next year.

Have already wasted money on buying some genuine Volvo bars for an older model from ebay which I later resold.

Would welcome any advice as to purchasing roof bars that actually fit the two existing twin hole attachments in the roof, rather than the general gutter type that are on sale. Are Volvo bars interchangeable between the S80 and say, the S40 and S60?

Also, having never fitted a roof box before what would be the maximum length that anyone would fit to an S80? Something measuring 2m 25cm looks awfully long but given the overall length of an S80 would this be OK or should I get something a little shorter? As with everything, bigger would seem better but I don't want to jeopardise fuel consumption and handling too much.

Any comments would be gratefully received.
